LEARN TO SING with The Stricklett Voice Method
Breath is the Heart of The Stricklett Voice Method
The Stricklett Voice Method is about learning how to breathe in and how to breathe out for singing that supports the voice to be as healthy as posible and to sing as beautifully as possible.
Margaret believes that singing is like playing any instrument: you need instruction from a teacher who has mastered that instrument through their own pratice and performing and a real set of learning tools for the student to take home for their own practice. Margaret has a B.M. and M.M. in Voice and taught voice at Shenandoah Conservatory of Music and The Levine School of Music. She currently sings with the Washington National Opera. She was nine years soloist on the WNO Vocal Soloist Roster and Five years WNO soloist for the Kennedy Center Open House. Margaret has been a solo performer on stage along side such vocal artists as Rene Fleming, Jeffrey Wells, Mary Mills, and Eva Marton. Margaret was selected and coached by Eleanor Steber to perform "Knoxville, Summer of 1915", at AIMS in Graz, Austria. Margaret's solo roles have brought her to collaboration with such known composers as Carlisle Floyd and Dominick Argento.
A Place of Empathy and Compassion
Margaret nurtures her students with patience, knowledge and experience as they reach for their own personal goals Margaret believes you can't breathe with tension in your body. Good breath is essential in singing. Relaxation, a sense of self-worth and being focused on the breath in a peaceful way helps students get good breath. Besides the benefits of kindness toward good singing breath, Margaret believes positive teaching creates a better atmosphere for learning.
